Painting, Pigment, & Swatches

About Oil Painting

Artist Oil Colors contain a full pigment load, suspended in a binder, generally linseed oil or another drying oil such as safflower oil, poppyseed oil, or walnut oil. Use them on stretched canvas or boards that have been primed to accept oil paints. Clean-up with turpentine or mineral spirits.

In addition to creating color swatches, we've gathered together the most detailed pigment information possible and have posted it with each swatch. When looking at a color swatch, just look for the tab labeled "Pigment Info" and click it!

We have done our best to represent the colors as true as possible. Please be aware that due to differences in users' monitors, the colors presented will be an approximation of the true color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.

Paint Swatches

We've spent countless hours creating real color swatches to help you find the perfect paints! Each swatch was painted individually for every paint line we carry. We then photographed and optimized the swatches for presentation on the web. We plan to keep on adding more swatches to our products in the coming months. At Blick, we want to be the #1 source of information for our customers.
